Crack down on pirated copies of Zhang Yi-mou’s blockbuster film “Hero”: In 2002, Face purchased the audio & video copyright of “Hero”, which was the very first film whose audio and video copyright was auctioned off in China. On 17 December 2002, Face held a press conference in Guangzhou Garden Hotel to announce its determination for safeguarding the audio & video copyright of this film, and took its lead to set up a Piracy Reporting Award/ Foundation. This conference was attended by delegates from the Department of Publicity under the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the State Ministry of Public Security, the General Administration of Press And Publication, the State Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the State Office for Elimination of Pornography, Guangdong Provincial Department of Cultural Affairs, Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Press and Publication, and more than 100 media organs across the country. The State Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the State Office for Elimination of Pornography and Illegal Publications have, for the first time, set up a specific team for cracking down on piracies for a single film, and also issued an official decree to the entire country requesting all necessary efforts to be made to crack down on pirated audio & video products in relation to the film “Hero”.

 Face has taken the lead, in the whole industry, to set up a team of 8 lawyers to take charge of cracking down on piracies by legal means; besides, it has dispatched a group of over 100 specialists to safeguard copyrights and crack down on piracies in different regions of the country. Thanks to its received support from managerial authorities in these regions, Face has initialized a sweeping tide of fighting against piracies across China, and arrested much attention from all walks of life. This move was deemed as one of the Top 10 Pieces of Social News in that year, and also considered as the most classical battle against fake audio and video products waged by the industry specialists. On 01 March 2003, Face held a press conference to celebrate the debut of audio & video products in relation to the film “Hero” and express its thanks to all walks of life, at Diao-yu-tai State Guest House in Beijing. This conference was attended by delegates hailing from the Department of Publicity under the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the State Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the General Administration of Press and Publication, the State Office for Elimination of Pornography and Illegal Publications, the State Ministry of Public Security, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, China Film Group Corporation, CCTV, Phoenix TV and HK TVB, as well as Direct Zhang Yi-mou.
